How to calculate each person’s share

Add people and items
Use one currency for the whole bill. Enter each line’s total price, not the price of one unit unless that line contains only one unit.

Assign portions
Give an individual item one share for its owner and zero for everyone else. For a shared item, use 1 and 1 for equal halves, or 2 and 1 for unequal portions.

Add actual charges
Enter the tax, service/delivery and tip amounts from your receipt. Each is allocated in proportion to item subtotals. Leave charges at zero if already included in prices.

Check and copy
Verify the receipt total and copy the summary. Open Splitopia in Telegram if you want friends to claim items and track payment status; create the bill there separately.
How rounding works
Amounts are calculated in the currency’s smallest unit. Each item is divided first; remaining units go to the largest fractional remainders, with ties resolved by participant order. Common charges are then allocated using the rounded item subtotals.
For example, 10.00 shared equally by three people becomes 3.34, 3.33 and 3.33. Together they are exactly 10.00. For a zero-decimal currency such as JPY, the adjustment is one yen rather than one cent.
A participant with no assigned items receives no proportional charges. To share a fixed delivery cost equally, add it as an item with one share for each person and leave the service/delivery field at zero.
What to check before sharing the result
Use positive item totals and whole-number portion weights. Every item needs at least one participant. The calculator supports up to 20 people, 100 items and a receipt total of one billion minor units. It rejects negative discounts and excess decimal places rather than silently changing your receipt.

Frequently asked questions
Can I split a bill unequally?
Yes. Assign items to their owners and use share weights for shared items. Two shares versus one means two-thirds versus one-third of that line’s total.
Do I need Telegram for this calculator?
No. The calculator works on this page without an account. Telegram is required only if you choose to use the separate Splitopia Mini App.
Are my entries saved?
No. Entries remain in the current page state and disappear on reload. Copy the summary before leaving if you need to keep it.
Can I enter a percentage tip?
Enter the actual tip amount, not a percentage. For example, a 10% tip on 60 is 6. Do not include the same tip in both item prices and the tip field.
Will opening Telegram transfer this bill?
No. The button opens Splitopia. Create or scan the bill there separately; calculator entries are not imported.
